Browsing Posts in Contests

Congratulations to Angie Lofthouse, winner of the Bumpy Landings contest over at Why Not? Because I Said So!

This week’s contest is over at Fire and Ice Photo. Go enter for your chance to win a copy of Bumpy Landings.

I am very excited to announce the beginning of the Bumpy Landings Spring Giveaway. Each and every week, from now until the end of June, I’ll be giving away a free copy of Bumpy Landings, with the help of some of my favorite bloggers.

This week’s contest is being hosted by Debbie over at Cranberry Fries. Stop by, say Hi, and enter for your chance to win!

Greetings from colder-than-Texas Wisconsin. I’ve been traveling and working all day, so I haven’t had the chance to post the winner of Blackberry Crumble.

Until now. Congratulations to Renae Mackley!

Um, that’s the good news. The bad news is that Blackberry Crumble didn’t make it onto my packing list, so it’s four states away, and won’t get mailed until next Monday (oops). But maybe–just maybe–there will be a little something extra in the envelope as a reward for your patience when it finally arrives.

Now for the latest blog information, find your way over to The Writing Fortress, where I blog a little about some pesky control issues.

Today’s stop on the blog tour is Tamara Heiner over at Chasing Dreams. But before you go, read about the Blog Tour Contest!

Do you ever have the feeling that life has managed to get ahead of you somehow, and you’re spending all of your time playing catch-up? Well, that’s me right now.

The Bumpy Landings blog tour has been running for a week, and the Book Trailer has been out for even longer, but I’m just now getting the contests up and going. That’s the bad news.

The good news? I’m starting BOTH contests RIGHT NOW. And even BETTER NEWS? I’m giving away a total of EIGHT PRIZES!

That’s right–one prize for the Book Trailer contest, plus one prize each week for the six weeks of the Blog Tour, and a special GRAND PRIZE to be selected from all entries at the end of the blog tour.

What do you win? Chocolate, of course! Unless your name is Jaime Theler, in which case you win a can of macadamia nuts instead. (Actually, any winner can request a can of nuts, if that’s the way you roll.) And the Grand Prize? Even more chocolate, plus a signed copy of Bumpy Landings, and a copy of the CD Vaihitian by the musical group Vaihi–the same group that provided the wonderful music for the Bumpy Landings trailers.

So how do you play? I’ll tell you.

The Bumpy Landings Blog Tour contest is simple. Just leave a comment on any of the blog tour Bumpy Landings reviews, and you will be entered. Comments left by the end of day Saturday will be eligible for that week’s drawing. Since I’m behind the times, I will be holding two drawings this weekend–one for this week’s stops, and one for the tour stops last week.

For this Book Trailer contest, the rules are the same as the last one. You can be entered up to 4 times by doing the following:

  • Post the Bumpy Landings Trailer on your blog – good for 1 entry
  • Link your blog back to this post so your readers can play along – good for another entry
  • Post a link to the video on your Facebook page – also good for an entry
  • Tweet about the contest, with a link back to this post and the #bumpylandings hashtag – your 4th and final entry

The Bumpy Landings Trailer contest runs THIS WEEK ONLY, so get your entries in. Let me know what you’ve done by leaving a comment on this post.

In case you hadn’t noticed, I’m very excited about the January release of Bumpy Landings! However, mine is not the only book coming out in the next 60 days, and I would be remiss and ungrateful if I didn’t mention a handful of friends who also have books coming out.

(Warning! The way my brain works, I’m probably going to forget someone in this list. If it’s you, please don’t feel offended. Please forgive my Lyme/Senior moment, send me a note, and I will promptly make restitution.)

First out of the gate is Tamara Heiner, who’s book Perilous is out now in ebook format, and came out as a physical book just a few short days ago.

Tamara is published by WiDo, and has just re-re-re-released her book trailer, and I really like the results–very simple, and very effective. Tamara is also having a great give-away to go along with her blog tour, so check her out.

I know I promised to post the winner first thing this morning, but Xondra felt it was more important to do her algebra homework than help me draw a name.

Kids these days.

Once the math was finished, Becky held the bowl and Xondra picked…

Kathleen! And no, it’s not a joke. This was the entry piece tied to Kathleen’s practical joke.

Thanks a ton to everyone who played along. I love the joke ideas, and all of your comments made me feel loved!

Kathleen – send your snail mail address to don (at) donaldjcarey (dot) com.

I have in my hot little hands Key Lime Pie by Josi Kilpack, the forth novel in her Sadie Hoffmiller culinary mystery series.

Chances are, you don’t.

But my purpose in writing this post is not to gloat. It’s to share.

Because I actually have two copies of Key Lime Pie, and I want to give one of them to you. I’m generous like that.

Here the book is being modeled by my lovely daughter – let’s call her Xondra here on the blog.

It’s absolutely hilarious.

Okay, actually I haven’t read it yet, but I’ve pushed it to the top of my TBR pile. I know the previous three books were great, and I can tell you that the recipes are delicious, as I’ve been honored to participate in Sadie’s Test Kitchen.

So what, you ask, do you need to do to win this fine literary creation? Simply leave a comment, and you’ll be entered into the contest.

And if you tweet about the contest, I’ll give you another entry.

Same if you link back to this post on your blog.

Plus, there’s one more way to get an entry – tell me about the best practical joke you’ve ever ever seen/heard/thought of but didn’t have the nerve to try. You see, I have a practical joker in More Bumpy Landings, and she needs some good material. And I’m going to try and steal it from you.

So there you go – a possible four entries to win your very own copy of Key Lime Pie, signed by Josi herself!

Comment away. I’ll give you until midnight on Friday, and then Xondra will pick a winner first thing Saturday morning.

Here at our house, one of our favorite things is our Mr. Coffee Cafe Motion hot cocoa maker. We use it almost daily. Perfect cocoa every time! Well, dear readers, I have an extra, and in honor of our highly unusual White Texas Christmas, I’m going to give it away to YOU! That’s right – one lucky reader will get their very own, new in the box cocoa maker.

Just leave a comment saying what your favorite kind of cocoa is, or what your favorite Christmas present was (given or received), and you will be entered into a drawing to take place after midnight on New Years Eve.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas – we sure did – and is in line to have an outstanding 2010!

This is a Black Friday deal you won’t find in any newspaper ad: your very own free copy of the hot new Christmas story compilation, Stolen Christmas.

This book, as you probably already know, contains a story written by Yours Truly. And to celebrate, I’m giving away a free copy to one lucky reader. All you have to do is leave a comment, and you are entered. Since this contest is starting during a holiday weekend, I’ll keep it open for a full week, and pick a winner next Friday!

Optional: If you would like, include in your comment something you are thankful for. I am thankful for you! Without my bloggy buddies, life would be so much less exciting. So thank you for coming by the Delusion Blog and sharing in my delusions with me.

And the winner – based on the Super Random Number Generator at Random.org is:

Dan M.

Congratulations, Dan! I’ll hunt down a box and get that mailed right away.
