Today’s stop on the blog tour is fellow author (and fellow former pineapple picker) Michael Knudsen who’s book The Rogue Shop has also just hit stores.

A question I’ve heard a lot in the last few months has been, “Is Jordan supposed to be you?” Given yesterday’s post about the flower shop, it would be easy for people to assume that yes, Jordan is me and I am Jordan.

This is not the case, folks.

Admittedly, Jordan and I have a lot in common. I think it’s natural for a beginning author to put a lot of themselves into their protagonist, and I certainly did. But I also went to a great deal of effort to make sure Jordan was not me. I gave him some of my interests and abilities, but made sure that a number of traits were his alone.

Of course, in earlier drafts, Jordan was a lot more like me, and I had to change that and make him just a little less pathetic. Sad, but true. But, like Jordan, I’ve since gained a level of confidence and inner strength that is serving me well in my life.

Now if I could just finish up that pilot’s license.
